Beehive - The Healthiest Food Factory
Entomologists claim that a bee - Apis Meliphera - (social bee) exists since the beginning of flowery plants, and that life on earth wouldn't be possible without bees - without flower pollination that they execute. The wondrous organization of their society amazes us. According to an impeccably strict system, collectively, untiredly they collect substances and make products which are pricelessly worth for human beings.
All of their production is completed in a densely populated house - beehive. There is a growing interest in Beehive Products in nutrition, medicine, and cosmetics. Manifold use and application of: honey, pollen, royal jelly, propolis, beeswax, bee poison and bees larvae, expands new horizons in Apitherapy. The modern way of bee growing and patented ways to gather bee products, enable larger production of these useful products.
Bees in a hive produce unique most complete natural food and protection against illness.
Return to The Nature
Human being survives millenniums in the same biological form. He uses everything that the nature and Creator gave to him in order to maintain life and protect himself from illness. Almost to the very end of 19th and the beginning of the 20th century a man satisfied all his survival needs from the nature, without even one synthetic substance. Every day a man finds out how destructive are the effects of certain chemicals on the human organism. This knowledge is used in use of pesticides, insecticides, conservation and other products without which life would become unthinkable.
Medicine and supplements market offers dozens of thousands different synthetic substances, under different names, for all the problems and conditions of man, promoted as revolutionary rescuing new formulas - which at the time make a person happy and free from all troubles. If we add to this another 3.500 chemicals present in everyday food, it is not a wonder that the richest nation in the world has a very regretful general health condition.
Nobody really knows, and least of all the consumers, of the chemical reaction of simultaneously taking dozens of different "medicines and supplements" into the organism. A chaotic state ensues in our biological system, which is taken out of its natural balance and simply "confused". Nobody knows in the end what are the causes and what the consequences.
So given all this, a return to nature is not surprising, and it becomes more and more an imperative of survival rather than fashion. In the last decades of the past century, science and medicine became a part of this movement, researching and showing more interest in natural food and natural medicine.
A big and very important move in return to nature is made by renewed use of the forgotten healing herbs and very valuable natural food from the hive. Taking responsibility for one's own health becomes an imperative of life.
Honey as human food, with the longest tradition of nourishment, has remained till this day. All the ancient cultures used it as food and as medicine. Dr. D. Jarvis M.D., a famous nutritionist, writes:"Human body works on the minimum of needs, and honey contains that minimum." Natural honey comes from the hive to the consumer in its natural content and state. Nutritionists think that honey is superfood of the cells, tissues and organs. In its natural unfiltrated and unpasteurized state, there have been identified over 180 nourishing ingredients. With filtration and pasteurization honey loses its essential ingredients.
Honey keeps it nutritive values for a long time. American researcher Dr. T.M. Davis, in discovering the tomb of Queen Tai's parents, found a hermetically closed dish of honey, which even after 3.300 years had its characteristic aroma. It has been proven analytically that that specific jar of honey has kept its nutritive value. The ancient Chinese made a kind of noodles from honey and pollen, which they kept for years in the case of drought or floods.
The main ingredient in honey is sugar: fructose, maltose, levulose and sucrose. They are easily assimilated in the organism, thanks to the enzymes present in honey.
There are many vitamins in honey, which keep their potency much better than those in fruit and vegetables. Nutritionists think that honey contains all the necessary vitamins for normal development and health.
Honey contains large number of minerals and microelements necessary for biochemical processes of the organism.
Honey is the food richest in enzymes - the catalysts of metabolism, without which metabolism is impossible.
Finally, honey contains a large number of aminoacids, including the essential ones, which are not made by the organism but have to be taken in with food.
Vitamins, minerals, enzymes, aminoacids, hormones and genes which honey contains in minimal quantities enter the biochemical reactions on which our life depends. Their mutual relations are very complicated and still not completely explained. The only thing that we know for sure is that they act synergistically. Tablets and pills of synthetic vitamins and minerals are isolated substances without microelements in natural structure, necessary for the absorption in organism. The role and activity of microelements are still not completely explained. The only thing that is known is that there is no life without microelements.
The benefits of honey as natural food are not supplied by any products of the modern food and medicine industry.
The quality of honey depends on the number and kind of herbs, ecological cleanness of the terrain and chemical contents of the soil.
Honey has been used since the ancient times in the folk medicine as a medicine for many illnesses: infections, diseases of respiratory organs, anemia, burns, wounds and sores, diseases of liver and kidneys, cardiovascular, rheumatic, carcinogen and skin diseases.
Hypocrites thought that one's manner of nutrition is extremely important for one's health. He recommended honey as healing food. He ate it himself few times a day. He lived 109 years. It is known that the bee growers are healthy long-living people, and they almost never get sick from malignant illnesses.
Bee pollen has been considered since the ancient times an "Ambrosia of Gods", a food for obtaining eternal youth.
It is considered a miraculous food. Regarding its nutritional value, it is looked upon as the most important "new food" from the end of the last and beginning of this century. It is considered a super food which defers aging. It contains over 100 identified ingredients. It is believed that a man can live for a year on only pollen and water.
Pollen contains all the known dissolvable vitamins, especially B and C, 22 aminoacids, 27 mineral salts, different oligoelements, enzymes, bioflavonoids, hormones (which stimulate the sexual glands), proteins, etc..Pollen increases immunity and energy level. In a paper in a Soviet Academy of Sciences, under the title "Bees in Service of Humanity", which speaks of the effects of pollen on the psychophysical conditions of the top athletes, the conclusion states that "A winning medal should be pinned to the chest of a bee". Soviet researchers further proved an amazing stimulatory and regenerative effect of pollen on the human organism. When the elderly use pollen, it shows excellent results on their physical and mental health, and visible rejuvenation of the skin. A large number of scientific studies worldwide confirm that pollen positively effects: indigestion problems, illnesses of prostate, sexual problems, allergies, regulation of blood system, physical fatigue, effects of radiation, etc.
The quality of pollen, like honey, depends on the kinds of plants and their numbers, cleanness of the terrain, and the manner of processing.
The developments of sciences and medicine have caused a great number of synthetic medicines. Many of those deserve the title of fantastic discoveries, but most often they cause unwanted side effects, while some chronic and malign illnesses still remain incurable.
Propolis (from the Greek words pro - in front, and polis - city, protection, defense, path), a bee product of saplike appearance and dark in color, is the most effective known natural antibiotic. The main ingredients of propolis are bioflavonoids, then enzymes, minerals, vitamins, aminoacids, nicotinic acid, colors etc. There are two theories on the creation of propolis. One says that it is made by the bees collecting a resinlike substance on the flowers. The other one says that propolis is what remains after creation of pollen. It is still a secret which one of these is the correct theory, since a small part of propolis is chemically examined. The bees cover up the hive with propolis to protect themselves, they repair the hive with it, embalm the foreign insects, etc. Russian researchers speak of the presence of propolis in the cells of the hive where the larvae are found. The main role of propolis is protection from illness. Antibacterial, antiviral, and antiparasitic functions of propolis are such that they make the hive more sterile than the surgery room.
Propolis as a pharmaceutical product can be found in the form of tablets, alcoholic solution, or a cream. It is used in all the infectious diseases: those of the respiratory organs, digestive organs, catarrh of the stomach and intestines, urinary tract, gynecological infections, gallbladder infections, gum inflammation, etc... It can be used preventatively to increase immunity, especially when there is an epidemics of influenza, since it does not produce resistance of microorganisms.
Another phenomena of the bee kingdom and unique in the animal world, is the feeding of the queen bee. This is another undoubted proof of the importance of food. The first two days of life all the bees feed on special "milk" - royal jelly, which is emitted from the Hypopharyngal glands in the bees' heads. After two days, only the larva chosen to be the queen, continues to feed on royal jelly, while worker bees start to feed on pollen and honey. Royal jelly is a milky white, acidic, creamy mass of bitter taste, rich in azot. Larva who feeds on royal jelly becomes 1.5 times bigger than other bees, lays around 3.000 eggs a day, and lives 40 times longer than the worker bees.
Royal jelly is produced by a modified standard technique of the raising of the queen bee. It is collected on the third day when the queen cells are richest in jelly.
The contents and ingredients of the substances contained by royal jelly are still not explained. It is known that it contains a whole spectrum of B vitamins, as well as A, C, D, E, 18 aminoacids, minimal quantities of minerals, as well as DNK, RNK, and hormones. It also contains an excellent antibiotic substance (10 Hydroxyl decanonic acid), which acts against many bacteria and fungi. It also contains Acetilcolin, which acts as a chemical mediator in transmission of neural impulses.
Dr. Raynaud Allen, in his book "The Royal Jelly Miracle", says: " Experiments in Germany, France, and Italy confirm that the royal jelly is as effective for humans as it is for the queen bee." Prof. Dr. Ricardo Galeazi, the personal doctor of the Pope Pio XII says that the royal jelly is greatly to be thanked for the long life of the Pope. Preventative and therapeutic functions of royal jelly are evidently proved. 60% of the world production of royal jelly is used by Japan - the country with the longest life span.
The other products from the hive - bee poison, beeswax, and larvae, are not the subject of this article.
